Former detective Matthew Farwell charged with murdering pregnant woman and staging it as suicide

Matthew Farwell, a former police detective in Massachusetts, stands accused of murdering Sandra Birchmore to conceal their illicit relationship. Initially misjudged as a suicide, her death revealed signs of violence after further investigation. Farwell allegedly staged the scene and maintained an inappropriate relationship with Birchmore. Stoughton Police Chief Donna McNamara condemned the alleged murder as “the single worst act of not just professional misconduct but human indecency” she has witnessed in her career. Farwell resigned and faces severe charges.
